The facility was replacing the antiquated building. The Antiquated building was actually on top of the city of Escondido’s old courthouse.

Finding an inmate in the Escondido Jail is easier than ever. It will take you about two seconds to do a successful inmate search.

The database can be found on Escondido, California official website. You can search the database by the inmates first and last name. Once you put that information in, a list of all names associated with the name you are searching for pops up.

You will see their first and last name, their state ID, and their inmate ID. When you click on their name, you will see when they were charged and what they were charged with. This database does not have the inmate’s mugshots.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive letters from their family and friends. The inmates mailing address is as follows:

Sending Money

While in jail inmates will need money for their telephone account, their commissary account, and for other miscellaneous fees that they acquire while being behind bars.

There are a few different ways you can fund their accounts.

Online

Online depositing is the most convenient method. Especially for those family and friends that do not live close to the Escondido Jail.

Escondido Jail contracts with SmartDeposit.com to fund their inmates accounts. When you create an account, you will need to enter 5500 as your pay location code. After that, you will need to follow the remaining prompts. It will walk you through the entire process. Once you go through the process once, you will be able to breeze through it again in the future.

In Person

If you live close to the Escondido Jail, you can come on down to the lobby of the jail and make a cash or a credit/debit card deposit. This option is one of the newer options, and it is very similar to bank ATM. There are fees that is associated with this method too. As of today, you can only deposit a maximum of $100 for credit and debit cards and $200 for cash deposits.

Lobby Drop Box

If you would rather skip the fees, you can also drop off cash, money orders, and cashier’s checks in the drop box located in the jail visitation lobby. There are envelopes next to the dropbox. You will need to fill out the envelope to fully complete the deposit. All deposits will be posted the next business day.

Visitation

The Escondido Jail has a contract with Securus Technologies for their video visitation needs. Visitors must schedule an appointment to have a video visitation with an inmate.

Visitation is only permitted for 20 minutes. Visitors will need to register with Securus Technologies 24 hours in advance of their visitation appointment. Visitation must be done from a computer, no smartphones or tablets allowed.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
