Overall Satisfaction with Ceridian Dayforce

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Using Dayforce has allowed us to bring information and processes together under one system - Recruiting, Hiring, Scheduling, Timesheets, Performance, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, and Reporting. Previously we had multiple systems that didn't all talk to each other and we had to use a lot of spreadsheets to report on data.

Pros and Cons

  • Workflow Designer - it's fairly easy to use and you can design your workflows to be as simple or as complex as you need

  • The new homepage - the HUB - is a nice addition allowing us to customize the information and the links for various roles

  • Custom reports - creating custom fields requires knowledge of SQL

  • An easier way to create and maintain master schedules would be appreciated. To use shift rotations for everyone would require creating thousands of shift rotations.

  • Being able to use custom forms on the mobile app. The majority of our onboarding uses custom forms and because of that, we can't use mobile onboarding. We've had to take a significant portion of our onboarding process outside of Dayforce.

  • Support - they consider an automatic email that acknowledges that your case has been received as meeting their SLA. It can take a long time to get someone actually assigned to the case; they seem to have a lot of turner in Support; and now they are pushing services that they used to include as part of Support over to their billable projects division.

Return on Investment

  • One of the reasons we chose Dayforce was what we saw with Data Analytics. Unfortunately it has not helped us. The new addition of a slimmed down version of PowerBI is a nice addition to visualize some reports.

  • We have been able to give certain roles the ability to run and write their own reports, reducing reliance on other departments to give them their data.

Using Dayforce for Compliance

We do use the EEO-1 and California Pay Data reporting which export in the correct format so we just have to upload saving us a lot of time. Creation of overtime policies, benefit eligibility all falls on the customer and whether the customer has enough knowledge to set those up correctly.

Impact on Decision Making

We're able to pull together employee data fairly quickly for exporting. We usually export the data and then work with it in Excel or PowerBI.

Alternatives Considered

I can see everything about an employee without going through 3 different systems. It reduces the amount of time spent pulling together a full picture of someone's employment. We also have more control of configuring things like benefits and bonuses.

Key Insights

Do you think Dayforce delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Dayforce's feature set?

Yes

Did Dayforce live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Dayforce go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dayforce again?

Yes

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have consistent schedules, not a lot of changes with employees (transfers, promotions, changes in schedules or hours), Dayforce would probably meet your needs. If you need maximum flexibility, you may struggle with Dayforce. Also, if you have some basic SQL and XML experience, you will be able to work through creating custom fields in reports and creating custom forms. Customers do much of the implementation and on going work in Dayforce so you do need to be prepared to commit time to implementing and maintaining the system.

Ceridian Dayforce Support

Support Rating

5

There are some really terrific ones and there are some that are just awful. I have had to escalate cases just to get a human assigned to it. I have had to explain basic Dayforce functionality to the support person that was supposed to be helping me resolve an issue. The best people in Support are the people who have worked in HR or benefits or compensation or payroll for another organization before moving to Ceridian. They understand the why behind the how. I wish Ceridian would hire more of them instead of just straight up software support folks.

Dayforce Customer Support Pros and Cons

ProsCons

Good followup

Problems get solved

Support doesn't seem to care

Premium Support

I wasn't aware that there was Premium Support. We use the Support portal for all of our cases unless it's a true emergency and then we call directly. Ceridian no longer assigns a team to a customer; you get who you get. There are some really terrific support people and when you find them, make sure you keep their name handy.

Exceptional Examples of Dayforce Support

There is a person that handles benefit file feeds and she is absolutely amazing because she used to be a benefits manager so she understands the why behind file feed data. She had some excellent ideas on how to update parameters to make things easier for us going forward.

Using Ceridian Dayforce

Usability

5

Once you have things configured, a lot of the functionality appears seamless to users. It's configuring that takes time.

Usability Pros and Cons

ProsCons

None

Unnecessarily complex

Lots to learn

Easy Tasks

  • From a user perspective, punching in/out is very easy

  • Being able to copy schedules from week to week is a good feature.

Difficult Tasks

  • Custom fields in reporting require knowledge of SQL

  • Custom forms require knowledge of XML

Mobile Interface Availability and Impressions

Yes-For basic things like punching in/out, viewing schedules it's great. I don't use it as a manager so I'm not as familiar with how our managers use it.
